      1. ALIATE 2006 Minutes - now on website
    2. Professional Development
      1. Symposium Update - Liam

        Organising going well. Fourteen abstracts received. Sponsors: 10 Gold, 3 Silver, 2 Bronze, 1 Blue. Committee meeting again in 3 weeks. CDU have again agreed to sponsor the registration of 2 students. Registration is available online.

        Action: Liam to sent Symposium information to Sarah who will send it out to PLNT, Linnet and VITeLS.

    3. Events and Activities
      1. LIW Planning for 2007

        We want to do something co-ordinated for LIW 2007 to make it a big event. A sub-committee has been organised. If you have any ideas please send to the sub committee (Sue, Julie, Liam.)

      2. National Advisory Congress meeting 16 August 06 - held

        10 attended. Report has been sent to National Office.

      3. Education Forum 18 August 06 - held

        Very successful. Important points raised, guest speakers very interesting. Committee will look at the outcomes and put together some strategic options.

      4. Careers Expo 23 August 06 - today

        Careers @ your Library - generic Library stall about employment in libraries aimed at High School students. Volunteers on stall have been asked to fill out evaluation form to get ideas for next year.

      5. Ann Alderslade Farewell dinner 27 September 06 (after ABC tour)

        Venue still to be finalised.

      6. Artwork for Lyn McIntosh tentative for 25 October 06

        Will be at Palmerston Library.

    4. Communication
      1. Interface August edition - Jayshree

        Jayshree tabled copies of the latest Interface. Next edition will be out in October.

  4. Other Business
    1. Teacher Librarians - Giselle

      Giselle described in detail the issues facing School Libraries. There is concern about the erosion of Teacher Librarian and Librarian positions in schools.

      Action: Giselle will send background information to Sarah via email.
      Action: AliaTE executive will write a letter to the CEO Margaret Banks expressing our concerns as a profession about the staffing of school Libraries.
      Action: Sarah to follow up with Alia National Office to see what is happening with this issue nationally.
