Meeting minutes
Kormilda College Learning Resource Centre, 22 September 2004
- Present: Robin Hempel (chair), Kira Paznikov Barry (minutes), Marilynne Willis & Leonie Whiting (hosts), Giselle Pryor, Linda Marchesani, Ruth Quinn, Tara, Sue Chilman, Susan Diplock, Sarah Manning.

Business arising
3.1 Group guidelines - Robin
Robin has presented outline, mission statement to be finalised and tabled by Robin by the end of the year. Elections can be advertised for November- Robin provided overview of positions. Ruth suggested circulation of information to occur before next meeting.
3.2 Working group reports - update on symposium
Program is being finalised and will be available on the internet shortly. Registration forms are on the ALIA website. Sponsors include James Bennet, VITELS, EBSCO. CDU is sponsoring some students to attend, with Peter Walton and QLD Library suppliers also offering support.
3.3 ALIA CPD program - Robin
Jayshree provided handout of her presentation to Robin. Robin provided overview to group of the program.
3.4 Futures expo - Robin
An overview of the successful expo was given. Thank you to ALIA for covering costs of the stall.
3.5 Secretary/group support officer position - Robin
John Wharam withdrew his application. Melanie Bennett to submit an application shortly.
3.6 Free trade agreement- Felicity Williams
Held over until next meeting.
Budget - Di Wilcox
Held over until next meeting.
New business
5.1 NT local liaison officer
Ana Govan appointed by National Office. First event coordinated was the futures expo.
5.2 ALIA National Policy Congress
Only 2 people (Ana and Robin) were at the ALIA Top End meeting. There seems to have been some confusion as to meeting dates and paperwork. Robin gave overview of items discussed including difficulty with the website. Alice Springs meeting had 4/5 participants. ALIA Top End is waiting on report to be sent from National Office. A member from ALIATE is able to attend the NPC, as well as a Centralian group member.
5.3 Convenor ALIA Top End for 2005
Robin has been convenor for 2 years and will not stand again for next year. Robin would like to become more involved in a mentoring capacity.
5.4 Combined ASLA/ALIA/CBCA christmas function
ASLA/CBCA have made an approach for another joint christmas function. Venue is the Santa Fe restaurant in late November. Members present at the meeting were happy for this to go ahead.
