ALIA Top End

Committee meeting Wednesday 15 May 2002

to The Hub, CMAX Complex, Maluka Street, Palmerston, 6:00pm

1. Present:
Ruth Quinn, Judith Beach, Joanne Anderson, Sarah White, Dianne Wilcox, Barbara Cotton. Apologies: Ann Ritchie, Robin Hempel, Julie Fawcett, Linda Winzar, Pam McKeen.

2. Confirmation of previous minutes

3. Business arising.
3.1 Reminder to Linda to post e-list message re group name.

4. Budget.
4.1 Currently running to budget. Biggest expense is the awards.

5. CPD activities.
5.1 Mentoring. Going ahead on Tuesday 23 May at Pirates Rugby Union Club. Barbara indicated that she had not had any inquiries or RSVPs back from any students yet.
5.2 Monthly meeting at Robertson Barracks. Joanne indicated she would like RSVPs to her by 31 May and that everyone should bring ID with them. Sarah and Linda to advertise on their bulletin boards at work.
6. Support for isolated and remote members.
6.1 Ruth is to write to all individually.

7. InterFACE.
7.1 Record thanks to Kaye re InterFACE.

8. Directory of Libraries in NT.
8.1 Judith reported that no sales to date. Agreed to send out to non-ALIA members.
8.2 Directory update Gay Lovett and Dianne Wilcox have offered assistance to Barbara on compiling at the end of the year. Barbara indicated that she would like to start this around September so should have all libraries details by December. Check with Christine Hart if she has a copy of the last directory on disk.

9. Directory.
9.1 Library and Information Week Darwin/Palmerston Sun requires us to put in an ad for the page. Have ad sizes and costs. Barbara to talk to Ruth about ad on Thursday. Hopefully the certificates and cheques will be here in time so we will not have to make up 'dummies'.
Proceedings for the Awards:
5:30pm Guests arrive, 6:00pm Welcome and introduction by Ruth, Minister's speech and announcement of winners.
Barbara unable to get space either for LIW banner on Bagot Rd or Gardens Oval - all booked out - remember for next year. Check if can do at Casuarina Square or Casuarina Public Library (Sarah)..
9.2 CAVAL presentation.
Barbara has been in touch with Sue Henczel and Jennifer Gawne. Finish organising and advertise on list.
9.3 Life Memberships re Herbert Compton - Kaye has approached Barbara and indicated that she thought Herb has an ALIA life membership. If this is the case, then we should subscribe him to the list and make sure he gets all information. Barbara to check with ALIA National Office.
9.4 LATTe - Make a mention and note regret of the official demise of the group in InterFACE.
9.5 LISEKA - Information in this months edition of inCite. Flag as item for discussion for June meeting.

10. No other business
Meeting concluded 6:40pm.
