ALIA Top End

Group guidelines

Mission statement

ALIA Top End is the professional association for library and information workers in the Top End region of the Northern Territory.

As a group, we contribute to the effectiveness of libraries and information centres in the Top End by promoting access to services and facilities and enabling the free flow of information in the interest of all Territorians.

Objectives

The objectives of ALIA Top End include:

  • to encourage new members
  • to promote PD activities
  • to foster and encourage participation in group activities (monthly)
  • to provide opportunities for mentoring
  • to build strong networks with other professional associations and community groups.

Structure

Executive positions:
Convenor: twelve month period
Vice-convenor: twelve month period
Secretary/treasurer: twelve month period
Additional positions: CPD officer/mentoring co-ordinator
Support position: group support officer

Period of office for office bearers

Executive office bearers will be elected for a 12 month term. Vice-convenor will be encouraged to take over the role of Convenor the following year. Additional office bearers elected/nominated for a twelve month term.
