5th ALIA Top End Symposium
E-volving education
International Room
SKYCITY Darwin
5-6 October 2007

Background

The ALIA Top End group will be hosting the 5th ALIA Top End Symposium in Darwin this October. The Top End Symposium is the premier event for library and information professionals in the Northern Territory, and has been hugely successful attracting both local and interstate audiences. This year's symposium is to be held at the central location of the International room at SKYCITY, Darwin.

ALIA invites proposals to present papers at the symposium on the following theme:

e-volving education

"e-volving education" aims to highlight needs, changes and trends associated with the evolution of education in the context of libraries and the library profession; setting a challenge for delegates to "evolve" their own personal and professional knowledge, and share this knowledge through educating their clients and peers.

Please feel free to suggest papers that relate in any way to how libraries use education or how it has evolved within the library sector.

Topics for papers may include but not limited to the following:

  • The future of libraries and their role in educating their customers
  • Careers in libraries
  • Personal reflections of your professional development through education
  • Education frame work
  • Evolving information literacy standards with emerging technology
  • Workforce planning and development to meet new demands with emerging trends
  • How will libraries meet the education needs of future workers
  • Workshop session
  • Adopting new technologies to promote lifelong learning
  • Innovations in education

The committee is also interested in hearing from professionals who may deliver workshops, tutorials, panel discussions and or demonstrations.

An abstract of your paper is due by 20th July, and should consist of no more than 300 words. Abstracts should be submitted electronically to: evolvingeducation@alianet.alia.org.au.nospam (please remove '.nospam' from address).
