How group activities have fulfilled the objectives of ALIA
Group activities such as events and the newsletter have fulfilled the objectives of ALIA by promoting and improving the services provided by special libraries in Victoria and by fostering the professional interests and aspirations of personnel engaged in information provision in these libraries.
How the group communicates with its members
The group communicates with its members through the quarterly newsletter and various electronic e-lists.
Program of the group for the past six months
Events
March
The first event of the year was held at Women's Health Victoria on 20 March. Johna Low from DA Information Services gave a presentation on e-books and Mary Russell from Women's Health Victoria talked about creating a thesaurus for the subject field of women's health. Discussion was followed by a tour of the Women's Health Victoria Library. DA sponsored the event.
May
On 6 May at the Cunningham Library, Australian Council of Educational Research, Dr Jeremy Fisher from Copyright Agency Limited gave a presentation on managing copyright in the 21st century and spoke about digital object identifiers. Staff of the Cunningham Library described the services of the Library. Library supplier Raeco sponsored the event.
