Six-monthly report to the ALIA Board of Directors
Special Libraries South Australia is committed to discussing and disseminating information on issues affecting those, working in and associated with, special libraries in South Australia.
It offers a forum for professional and personnel development, networking opportunities, promotion, and exchange of ideas and solutions through its active program. It raises members awareness of new initiatives, offers support to those with an interest in special libraries and represents members nationally and internationally by providing appropriate comments on issues affecting them.
The committee consisted of:

At the end of June 2002, the Group had 161 members.
The committee met every six weeks to discuss national and local issues.
An e-mail list has been established and is maintained by the secretary to communicate with members.
The Group has held a variety of activities in the period January-June 2002. They were:
- Committee meetings were held on 22 January, 5 March, 9 April and 18 June 2002 to plan functions and to discuss issues.

- Library Tours - To the SA Attorney-General's Department Library and the Federal Court of Australia Library on 13 June 2002.

- International Special Librarians Day was held at the recently opened $25 million National Wine Centre of Australia on 18 April 2002 to honour the unique contributions made by information professionals. Afternoon tea followed at de Castella's where we contemplated the 2002 theme for ISLD which was Leadership, Partnership, Membership: Expanding Global Knowledge Frontiers.

10th Asia Pacific Special Health and Law Librarians Conference
Group members have also been heavily involved with the 10th Asia Pacific Special Health and Law Librarians Conference to be held in Adelaide, South Australia in August 2003. There are Special Libraries SA members on the Organising Committee and all the Sub-Committees. All planning for this Conference has been in conjunction with the ALIA SA Health Libraries Group and the Australian Law Librarians Group (SA Division).
Committee members volunteer their time to operate the Group.
