Meeting minutes

Committee meeting held on Monday 16 September 2005 at 6:00pm at Universal Wine Bar, 285 Rundle St, Adelaide.

1. Present

Rachel Teesdale-Smith, Hayley Gamble, Benjamin Wheal, Sylvia Muscardin, Tanya Hook.

2. Meeting open

6:00pm.

3. Apologies

Marie Francis, Caryl Armstrong, Catherine Daniels, Andrew Meier.

5. Reports

5.1 Treasurer
Nothing to report.

5.2 ALIA SA Rep
Hayley will be the Specials representative for 2006. The first meeting is due to be held 6 February 2006, where the calendar of events for the year will be decided.

6. Election of office bearers

Hayley accepted the role of convenor, to be assisted by Rachel. Benjamin accepted the role of Secretary.

Rachel advised Andrew had accepted the role of e-list administrator. Tanya stood down from her two years as treasurer, with a thank you from the group. A new treasurer is yet to be appointed.

7. 2006 events

April International Special Librarians Day.
Rachel to investigate possibility of holding event at a Hindley Street bookshop.

June Library tour.
Possibly of the newly moved CASR Library (liaise with Andrew Meier).

September Seminar.
'Communicating with technical people' Sylvia and Caryl have already brainstormed possible speakers.

December Joint Christmas event with ALIA SA.

8. Any other business

Meetings tentatively set to be held first Tuesday of every second month. Alternate between morning and evening meetings to accommodate all members.

Discussion held re: marketing our group to 'non library' information officers. Many of these are in autonomous positions within a wide variety of organisations and would face similar issues to special librarians.

Possibly get contact details via CISA. It was suggested we change the group name to better reflect the inclusion of workers in the wider information field. Hayley to investigate further.
