Correspondence In: None 6. Business arising from the correspondenceNone 7. International special librarian's dayAsk Chris if he wants to be a contact for ALIAnet. Mike Treloar's gift: Catherine to buy wine and card and be reimbursed by Tanya. Silvia will introduce the Special's Committee; Rachel to introduce Mike Treloar. Can Chris distribute the flyer among students at Magill? 8. Making the members of the committee more visible to the members of the Specials GroupNametags and stars to be worn by committee members at functions. Special E-news - Andrew to be editor. Keep the newsletter short and focussed. 9. Communication with National OPALs re ALIA AGMWe need to find a proxy to speak to our motion; Proxies need to be put forward to ALIA on Tuesday 18 May at 5:00pm; Trevor Wakeley offered to be proxy; Silvia to contact Chris regarding ALIA ACT group re proxy vote; Silvia to forward Trevor's e-mail to committee. 10. Law Librarian's ReportMay be possibility of joint seminar between Specials and Law eg Copyright or with ALIA SA forum on purchasing agreements and licensing. 11. Library Technicians' ReportSALT's 25th anniversary in 2004 - suggested date Saturday 9 October - will need to notify ALIASA. Variety of venues suggested - everyone asked to further investigate availability and menu options - bring these to next meeting. Intending it to be a formal evening, sit-down meal, aiming for about 50 attendees. Guest list to include Academics, Education, Industry, Library workers. 12. ALIA (SA)ALIA SA wants to define their Mission: is it a representative of all groups or a group on its own? ALIA had a joint forum during the VALA conference with publishers, suppliers, vendors and librarians. Does Law want to be involved ? it seems so. Tentative date set for July/ Motion: that Specials be formerly involved and elect a representative to be on the organising committee: passed. Rachel to be rep and Philip will e-mail regarding meetings. ALIA SA wants to organise a Calendar of events so groups don't clash - general support for this idea. There is a meeting to discuss this issue among others on 29 April at the Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Liberary. UniSA West. 13. Focus of Specials SA for 2004Seminar suggestion: How to make ourselves heard by senior managers: sub-committee: Rachel and Silvia. Keep e-mailing each other regarding ideas for other seminars. 14. Any other businessFuture of groups: Seminar with ALIA SA and ALIA representative Lee Welch. The thrust of it was that groups should redefine their purposes: Silvia proposed that groups act as a forum to air concerns/issues and offer support as well as for CPD and social events. Blan has a list of health journals that may be useful: she will e-mail interested parties. 15.
