The Bremer Institute of TAFE library service in Ipswich celebrated Library and Information Week with a range of activities designed to raise awareness of its services. Acting library manager Ramila Chandra says the highlight of the week's celebrations was library lunch box sessions at both Institute campus libraries - Bundamba and Ipswich. 'Our library exists to help students and staff reach their learning, teaching and service goals and we used the week to promote our services to them.

'The quality of what we offer, including extensive links to subject resources and full-text databases, are enhanced through partnerships with teaching staff and so the whole week was about fun engagement with them. It is also an opportunity to informally mingle with teaching staff and thank them for their support', Ramila says.

The library was particularly keen to promote its unique e-Nook service - a learning facility designed for teachers to access a suite of software packages for toolbox customisation and/or creation of new flexible learning delivery packages.

Twice daily lunch time, lunch box sessions, colourful brochures, a competition for teachers to win a book-pack, and cream filled-scones at morning tea, were some of the strategies employed by library team. The team comprised liaison librarian Anne Tobin, technical services manager Sheryl McCray, library technician Richard Sturgess, and administrative assistant Maureen Keller. 'The lunch box sessions and morning tea was very well attended - everyone loves the scones and cream! Morning tea is just a little thing, but from that good things follow.'
