ALIA Quill

Editorial statement

Purpose

Quill is the acronym for the newsletter Queensland Inter-Library Liaison

The purpose of Quill is to provide current information with a Queensland focus to support the professional life of Queensland library workers and to provide a forum for regional groups, special interest groups, organisations and other subsets of the Queensland library community to share news and views of relevance to their work.

General policy

The newsletter aims to:

  1. keep members of ALIA throughout Queensland aware of current events and activities of interest and relevance to the library and information profession
  2. be a channel for information-sharing amongst members
  3. strive for best practice in newsletter publishing.

Guidelines for submissions

Submissions are sought from Queensland library and information workers either as individuals or as representatives of groups. Ideas for longer articles may be discussed with any member of the editorial committee. Submitting an article to Quill is an acceptance, for copyright purposes, which the intellectual property contained in the submission, or such derivatives as are created in the editing process, may be published by Quill without any financial consideration in exchange. In other words, if you submit, you give a free license of use.

For style, please refer to Style manual for authors, editors and printers. 6th ed. Canberra: Wiley, 2002. APA is the preferred referencing style.

The committee prefers material to be submitted as an e-mail attachment. Microsoft Word or Rich Text Format is the preferred format. Contributors should not be discouraged if these criteria cannot be met; please consult a member of the editorial committee [use the office-bearers link below].

Responsibility

Although the editorial committee will seek copy from members with the intention of using it with minimal editing, the final responsibility for editorial content rests with the committee, which reserves the right to make changes as it sees fit. If significant changes are required, the committee will attempt to consult with the contributor before publication.
