Beyond the Hype: Web 2.0

The Australian Library and Information Association is proud to present Beyond the Hype 2008: Web 2.0.

Web 2.0, and Library 2.0, are terms generating a high level of interest in the library and other fields. Beyond the Hype 2008: Web 2.0 will introduce, discuss and debate issues about Web 2.0, its impact, its usefulness, discussing whether it's of benefit to your library, and possible ways of incorporating it in to libraries.

This page provides an introduction to the event but as the topic is Web 2.0 we encourage to visit and join our Web 2.0 site which uses the ning social networking tools. There will be opportunities for you to engage and experiment with Web 2.0 applications on ning before, during and after the event.

Program and Call for Contributions

The final program is now available. Symposium papers and presentations are now available.

The symposium organisers are pleased the two keynote speakers are:  Christine Mackenzie, Yarra Plenty Regional Library Service,  "Mainstreaming library 2.0 - realigning public libraries" and Sherman Young, Macquarie University, “Beyond 2.0: Songs from the Geek Chorus.

  • Submission of abstracts: 30 November 2007
  • Notification of acceptance/rejection: 14 December 2007
  • Early bird registration: 1 November - 14 December 2007
  • Conference period: 1-2 February 2008
