ALIA SA Public Libraries (SA)
Meeting minutes 29 October 2002
Present: Shane Cathcart, Gaye Howe, Wendy Steele, Julie Weller, Jennifer Bodey
Apologies: Suzanne James, Aaron McBride, Keren Sutcliffe, Jenny Paradiso, Renya Spratt
- President's report
Shane advised that he has nothing to report as info re: ALIA SA has not been reaching him. Suzanne has been dealing with Nat Office re. registration and has queried cost of library tours. Shane has moved that the tours be free as a means of recruitment. Wendy accepted, Gaye seconded, motion passed.
- Treasurer's report
Julie has not received updated report from ALIA National Office: should come at the end of the month. Estimates approx $2000 in account.
- Events updates
- 3.1. Display workshop
Steve Murphy can't do 25 November as has another commitment. He suggested 2 December but this clashes with CLASA Quarterly. Shane has spoken to Steve and will negotiate with him and Hindmarsh for a different date. This session has sold out and has waiting list so there shouldn't be a difficulty with getting enough to different date although it is recognised that some may not be able to attend session after all. Will try to arrange for more sessions next year: first one in mid-late February. Shane will also investigate interest in regional sessions. Action: Shane
- 3.2. Library tours
Shane will speak to Vicki at TTG to try to organise tour in February. Suzanne to arrange tour of new Payneham Library in April if open (or before end of financial year). Format to be tour and get-together afterwards. Tours to be free. Action: Shane/Suzanne
- 3.3. Marketing best practice
Proposed for June 2003. Possibly full-day event. Possible topics/speakers include Marty, Fiona Lange, cinema advertising, Dewey, marketing and planning, free publicity, dealing with media. Venue to be decided: current suggestions are DIRC and Semaphore Library. Action: Shane
Next Meeting: To be held at PLAIN Central Services, Milner Street, Hindmarsh on Tuesday 26 November 2002 at 6:00pm for 6:15pm.
