ALIA New Graduates Group: The social pagesALIAVic past, present, future18 March 2004, Postmasters Gallery, Melbourne On a lovely evening in March, ALIA members gathered at the Australia Post Postmasters Gallery in an evening to recognise the past, the present and the future in our profession in a function hosted by the ALIAVic group. In an such an inviting location, it seemed fit that this would be the event to invite the new members, grads and students to the large mix of members that had assembled. The evening was wonderful - recognising the dedication and work to the industry of Moyra Macallister - with her being awarded ALIA Fellowship and Bruce Davidson , being awarded a Silver Pin. Also, there was a tribute to Warren Horton who had passed away late in 2003. In recognising the future, Alison O'Connor - convenor of the ALIA New Graduates Group - welcomed all students, graduates and new members to ALIA by way of a Dewey Decimal game where all in the room were to assign themselves to other 'Deweys' in their group. It was a great success with many new and old members becoming acquainted and was a great social start to 2004 and was a great way to introduce the future of ALIA - new members - and also a great way to kick off the start of the ALIA New Graduates Group in Melbourne as well. The evening was a great success and yet another night signifying another reason why being an active member of ALIA is such a good thing!
