Networking with the ALIA New Graduates Group!

Kate Sinclair AALIA, liaison librarian for Law and Legal Studies, Flinders University Library

The ALIA New Graduates Group gave the next generation of librarians an opportunity to connect over cocktails at the recent 10th Asia Pacific Specials Health and Law Librarians Conference in Adelaide.

The first event organised by the national group, the ALIA New Graduate Group drinks at the Embassy Bar on Sunday 24 August was a 'bright n' funky' way for conference delegates, new graduates and students to get to know each other.

Around thirty delegates, local librarians and technicians relaxed on the comfy couches, had a drink and chatted about everything from favorite music to library education. Delegates commented that it was a great way to meet some familiar faces before the conference.

'It was good to meet people from interstate and there was a great vibe and buzz in the room' said Kate Sergeant from the University of South Australia.

Alison O'Connor, the national convenor for the ALIA New Graduates Group said that there was a lot of interest in the event from 'new generation' delegates. 'People have been very enthusiastic. I've had many comments from delegates who thought it was a great concept and really enjoyed themselves on the night'.
