- Minutes of previous meeting: Minutes from 14 November were accepted by Jean Broomhall and seconded by Judy Smith.

4.1 Correction to apologies: Beverly Dallas not noted in same.
- Correspondence:
5.1 In: Xmas card and disk from TALIATEC's. Could not open the screensaver that was on the disk and will e-mail TALIATEC's to ask about the disk.
5.2 In: Sandra received a complimentary copy of the latest issue of Library Mosaics (an American publication) which features Australian Library Technicians. It can be passed around WALT's members to have a look and we can decide if we would like to subscribe for a year.
5.3 Out: E-mail to new Technician member.
5.4 Out: Report from ALIA Mentoring group - requesting a library
5.5 Out: Technician on the committee. Anybody who would like to volunteer please see Sandra.

- Today's balance is $567.07

- A 6-month Term Deposit account has been opened for the WALTS Student Grant funds.

8.1 The committee members got together last Sunday, 4 February and planned the events for our section for this year. Some events are still proposed at this stage and they will be confirmed as soon as possible.
8.2 Some of you may have heard about the Technicians seminar on 27 February called Stepping Out - Technicians in the new information environment. There will be 6 or 7 speakers in an informal discussion about the roles and opportunities available in the new Information Services Environment. The seminar will be held in the Great Southern Room at LISWA at 5:45pm for a 6:00pm start. It is free to students and ALIA members, all others are $5.50.
8.3 Other functions proposed include a follow up session to Stepping Out possibly in April, announcing the winner of our Student Conference Grant, a June AGM evening, Tasmanian conference de-brief and a south-west mini conference early in 2002!
8.4 Bonnie and Sandra attended an information session on Saturday morning about forming a new group and are working on putting the submission together including a budget for WALT's which covers July 2001 - June 2002.
8.5 Brenda distributed Participation Certificates to those who attended the Internet Addiction workshop last September (sorry it took a while) If Janette Longwood or Marg Lundy could contact Brenda with a mailing address, their certificates will be posted to them.
- Branch Council report:
9.1 Library and Information Week - looking for a technician volunteer, contact Jane Edinger at the Water Board. Theme is Knowledge Outlook. David Black will be invited to be a guest speaker at the launch of Library Week 2001. WALT's will be having a combined dinner/guest speaker and will also be presenting the winner of the WALT's Student Conference Grant (where are our applicants?).
9.2 Sharr Medal - an award will be presented at a Branch Council function in March. The Icebreaker has been cancelled due to lack of interest, Branch Council will organise a function in March, inviting the Minister for Arts? to be the guest speaker.
9.3 Biblia - feedback is requested about the electronic version of Biblia ie. ease of acess/ease of use and content.

- Next meeting venue
11.1 The next meeting is a lunchtime meeting on 18 March, 12:30pm at the Sicilian Café, 47 Mews Road, Fremantle (near McD's and Cicerello's). Main meals are $12.00 and includes a glass of wine. The main meal choices should be: lasagne, foccacia sandwich, ravioli, chilli calamari or chicken tenderloin salad, all of which are a generous size.

12.1 The committee would really like to see an avalanche of applications for the WALT's Conference Grant. Don't be shy - have a go!
