Victorian ALIA Library TechniciansHot off the press3 March 2006 We would like to thank everyone involved with last Friday's very successful event. The focus of hot off the press in 2006 was the work of technical services staff in providing non book materials to patrons. In the morning delegates learnt about the work of suppliers through a fascinating visit to Stomp. This was followed by a comprehensive series of small presentations on the amazing work of the Vision Australia staff to the provide reading materials to the visually impaired. The afternoon sessions were at Raeco, and we heard about their range of products, along with a presentation on RFID by Sue Francis of 3M. Plus, we learnt about cataloguing non book materials from Ellie Tuncel of SCIS (Schools Cataloguing Information Service). Such an event is dependent on those who kindly give their time and resources, so thanks to Peta Curnow and the Stomp team, Rachel Johnson and her colleagues at Vision Australia, Ellie Tuncel (SCIS), Sue Francis (3M) plus Trevor McCann and the Raeco gang (they have supported HOTP since the first event in 2004 by providing lunches and visits to their site). Thanks also to our great bunch of delegates who 'networked' freely and coped magnificiently with the 36 degree heat (the event certainly lived up to its name!) Kerrie Kelly ![]() ![]() ![]() |
