Minutes for 15 April 2002 meeting
ALIA South Australian Library Technician Group monthly meeting to be held at Fleet Street Café, Pulteney Street.
- Meeting opened: 6:25pm
- Present: Jackie, Sharron, Julie, Jennifer, Amanda, Karen, Eva, Kathy, Marion

- Minutes of the previous meeting: on 18 March 2002: Accepted. Proposed: Sharron, seconded: Karen.
- Business arising from the Minutes:
5.1. Riverland Regional Group: Insurance is still a concern. Sharron to contact Jacque by telephone.
5.2. Regional groups: Mail out complete. Waiting on responses.
5.3. Albury Weekend Workshop: Kathy, Jennifer, Marion, Amanda attending.
5.4. Brisbane 2003 Conference: 9 indicated interest in attending. Start saving now. 9-12 September 2003.
5.5. Planning 2001-2002
5.5.1. Mentoring programme: No response as yet. Sharron to post to LibTec again. Elinor Whelan has suggested joint events for mentorees.
5.5.2. Tour of IMVS Library. Cancelled because of lack of interested. The two people who did have been advised to watch out for 'Techs on Tour'.
5.5.3. Techs on Tour: Roma Mitchell Arts and Education Centre Library and City West Campus of Uni of SA. Meet at 4:00pm at Roma Mitchell Library, Light Square. 5:30pm-6:30pm City West. 7:00pm dinner at Pullman Restaurant.
5.5.4. Mount Brecken Weekend Workshop: Karen has several interesting suggestions for speakers. Marion to bring murder mystery kit to next meeting. Sharron trying to persuade Kate Sergeant to speak about copyright of electronic journals. Other suggestions include Lothar Retzlaff's Internet Roadshow, evalutating websites, library marketing (Shane Cathcart), State Library promotion (Stamos), e-books, Brochures Without Tears, etiquette, manners and correct procedures on LibTec. Marion to provide working notes for weekend workshops.

8.1. SALT Budget: Sharron contacted ALIA. Zero balance on 1 July. Any outgoings produce a negative balance. Incomings reduce negative balance. Budget runs from January-December. Financial report from July-June.
8.2. Joint venture: ARCOM committee proposed joint venture 'How computers are changing our work environment'. Too little information too late. Sharron to advise that Committee are prepared to promote and support but do not want any financial involvement.
8.3. Marilyn Brennan: New editor of InterALIA. ALIA's contact in SA. Will also update webpage and is local presence officer. (works in Supreme Court Library).
8.4. SALIN: (South Australian Library Information Network). A new group. Mainly from academic libraries but is spreading. No ALIA involvement. Informal, social contact. 1 month speaker, 1 month social. Sharron to advise ALIA and point out why they are possibly successful. Question if possible mentorees have joined because mainly new graduates or close to it.
