Minutes of the meeting: 18 February 2002
ALIA South Australian Library Technician's Group monthly meeting held at Fleet Street Cafè, Pulteney Street
1. Meeting opened: 6:35pm
2. Present: Eva, Julie, Jackie, Sharron, Amanda, Marion, Karen, Kathy, Jennifer, Stephen Peacock (observer).
3. Apologies: None
4. Minutes of the previous meeting on 20 January 2002: Accepted. Proposed - Amanda. Seconded - Kathy.
5. Business arising from the minutes:
- Group proposal - no advice.
- Finalisation of previous group - all information has been sent, but no official advice as yet.
- InCite monthly themes and deadlines - no advice in response to three e-mails.
- Regional groups - Karen has put together a package to go to those who responded.
- Riverland Regional Group - possibility group has only two ALIA members. None are members of SALT. Their first meeting for this year is to be held at Loxton on 9 March 2002. Concern expressed about insurance cover in current circumstances. Sharron to contact ALIA for clarification and then advise Riverland Regional Group.
- Albury Weekend Workshop - Jackie advised V-Line bus fare = $134.00 return. Bus for return trip leaves at 4:00am. Hire car cost = $258.00 plus petrol to be divided by number travelling with maximum of five. Probably cost would be approximately the same. Indications of interest from Marion, Kathy, Jennifer, Jackie, Amanda.
- Brisbane 2003 Conference - update on progress received.
- Planning for 2001-2002
- Mentoring Programme - is to be launched at AITAFE Graduation 18 March 2002. Request to go to Robyn Matthews for list of graduates. Meeting to be held after graduation ceremony. NB apology from Marion for this meeting.
- Tour of IMVS Library - Tuesday 9 April at 4:00pm. Will take probably 30-60 minutes. Need to advise numbers by 2 April. Dinner at Fleet Street Café; afterwards. Jennifer to produce flyer.
- 'Brochures without tears' - Library Training Room, City West Campus, University of SA. Essential to start promptly at 6:15pm so that session finishes at 8:15pm (library closes at 8:30pm). 10 computers available (can be two people at each). Eva to bring box of discs (to be reimbursed for these). Map showing location to go on back of flyer. Suggested use Wilson's Carpark in Hindley Street.
- 'Techs on Tour' - 21 May with 4:00pm start. Still in planning stages. Dinner at Pullman Restaurant = $27.00 per head. Necessary to book. Jennifer to check sitting times.
- Mount Brecken - Booked for 2-3 November 2002. $100.00 deposit paid.
- Weekend Workshop Guidelines - Marion to forward to Bonnie Rae Bruce in WA.
- Planned activities and meetings - Jennifer to forward dates to InterAlia and inCite.

8. General business:
- Website - www.eventspool.com - has listing of coming events in SA.
- Local Presence Officer - ALIASA has made this appointment. Can be called upon to assist in various ways, but services have to be paid for.
- InterAlia - changes to be introduced. Diary to be expanded. Advertisements for events limited to 1 page (no more A4 flyers). Deadline second Wednesday in month. Therefore, 10 April for promotion for SALT National Library Technician's Day. NB also for AGM. Sharron to advise Brodie when arrangements finalised. Publicity to include Library Technician's badge as graphic.
- 2003 Year of the Library. Next meeting 27 March 3:00pm at State Library in Bronwyn Halliday's office.
- ALT membership - three new members.
9. Any other business:
- Stationery - Jennifer to order letterhead and envelopes from ALIA.
10. Meeting closed: 8:20pm
11. Next meeting: 18 March 2002 in the Atrium, AITAFE after graduation is over.
