2006 annual Report
Key activities held in 2006
PD events and activities:
June 2006: Members of the group assisted the ALIA Quorum Group with hosting ALIA stand at a Careers Expo, which proved very successful in promoting libraries as a career option.
October 2006:Workshop focussing on Acquisitions, Reference, and Resource Sharing/Document Delivery was postponed until March 2007
Networking and social:
February 2006: General meeting held at CARRS-Q Carseldine with a tour and hosted by Anna Johnson
August 2006: Our AGM was held at Ship Inn, Southbank Parklands as this has proven a popular eating/networking location for our group.
November 2006: Christmas Party was held once again at The Ship Inn, and was well attended.
Membership recruitment:
Presentation at Morningside TAFE to 1st Year Students by Trish D'Arcy (Convenor) and Rowena Brannigan (Secretary) highlighting the benefits of becoming members of ALIA
Other:
May 2006: Presentation of Qld Library Technician of the Year [Recent Graduate] Award to Kathleen Boyd, Qld Dept of Public Works & Housing, with her award and monetary prize donated by Qld Library Supplies. This presentation occurred at the ALIA Quorum Trivia Night which was attended by approximately 200 library staff from across the state.
Group communications (eg e-list, chat etc)
The group committee tried to keep its members informed by sending the minutes of meetings held to the e-list. Also, the group's activities were posted on the ALIA pages as appropriate. The committee is hoping to launch our own e-list in 2007.
