Decision on LT Dinner and Award to be held in May - should it be held as part of the ALIA QUORUM trivia night or not?

  • In the past the LT dinner and award always held on LT day - Tuesday
  • This year LT Committee has raised the possibility of holding the award ceremony at the QUORUM Trivia night.
    • Higher profile for library technicians
    • Higher turnout for library staff - larger gathering

    • QUORUM very supportive
  • Vote asked of LT members present - unanimous in favour of a trial
  • Trish to co-ordinate with QUORUM regarding the award ceremony
  • Trish to contact Sharon re expression of interest regarding application of the award to be sent.
  • Feedback on the success of this initiative will be discussed at future meetings.

  • Forum will look at library skills usage in non-library work
  • No discussion at this meeting, just a feel for if people would be interested
  • Date to be advised and confirmed
  • To be discussed at future meetings

Workshopping Forum
This will be a future event to be discussed in more detail closer to the time.
No discussion at this meeting, just a feel for if people would be interested.
The idea behind this forum is to introduce people to different aspects of library work that they may not have been involved in such as Acquisitions, Document Delivery etc.
The format would be small groups with a 'team leader' for each of the areas and each group would rotate through the session over the course of an afternoon.
General consensus from the group indicates that this will be a good initiative.

Meeting closed 3:15pm

Next meeting: General meeting TBA, Planning meeting - mid March?
