Exploring information literacy meaning

Friday 5 September 2003

Margie, I was interested in your roller coaster analogy. In the workplace where I am currently conducting my research, there does appear to be an 'stop' as you described in you posting. The emerging practictioners who enter the workplace seem to dip in and out of their information landscape, this gives them time to reflect on information, where it is located and how to access it . It also allows them to incorporate new informaiton into their knowledge strucutres

Experts in this workplace also act as an emergency brake for newcomers who are required to demonstrate their information competence to the team.

This year's online forum has been extended for a another week and will continue as an active debate until Friday 12 September.

The discussion has been flowing well and it is good to see a variety of sectors of the information industry contributing and I would encourage you all to continue with the discussion.

Just a small reminder that when replying to messages where you wish your reply to go to all recipients, you will need to reply to all otherwise they do not come back to list owner for approval.

If anyone has had any difficulties either with their subscription or posting messages to the list, please let me know.

The discussion is being archived for readers to be able to go back and loo kat the whole thread of discussion.

Many thanks to those who have contributed to the discussion to date.
