The incumbent executive members indicated that they would be happy to continue for a third year in their respective positions. There being no other nominations, the office bearers were re-elected unanimously for 2006: Jennifer Kirton (Convenor), Lainey Furness (Secretary), Robyn Murray (Treasurer), Cathie Nilon (E-List Coordinator). Month: March (Wednesday 15 March 2006; place to be advised by e-list) Purpose: An opportunity for the Convenor, Jennifer Kirton and other ALIAFNC members to maintain friendly contact with ALIA members and potential members in the southern part of our region; to facilitate the interchange of ideas, concerns, and developments in the profession in our respective local areas; to network, inform, and socialise with members who are distant geographically. To provide an opportunity for members and potential new members for learning, networking, social contact, and friendship, at the meeting and the dinner.
Month: March 17:30 Tuesday 21 March. Richmond-Tweed Regional Library, Central Headquarters, 6 Centenary Drive, Goonellabah 2480. Ph 02 66251415 Purpose: An educational and fun opportunity for members and potential new members to see the Mobile Library (Bookmobile) in operation at the Central headquarters of the RTRL; to learn about the client base and the scope, services, and materials provided to remote public library users through the Mobile Library. To provide an opportunity for members and potential new members for learning, networking, social contact, and friendship, at the meeting and the dinner.
Month: June (date and place to be confirmed) Purpose: To meet with ALIA's President and promote ALIA as a professional body to members and potential new members. To illustrate to the ALIA National Body some of the differences in operating as a regional ALIA Group, being a regional ALIA member, and working in the library and information sector in a regional area. To provide an opportunity for members and potential new members for learning, networking, social contact, and friendship, at the meeting and the dinner.
Month: September (date and place to be confirmed) Purpose: Encourage members and potential new members to attend a meeting with a guest speaker of general appeal. Hold the meeting in a different location from Lismore to encourage members from the northern area of our region to attend. To provide an opportunity for learning, networking, social contact, and friendship, at the meeting and the dinner.

Purpose: AGM: election of Office Bearers for 2007. Please note that members pay for their own meals and drinks when attending dinner meetings. Robyn Murray to investigate availability/conditions for ALIA assistance with costs associated with attendance of guest speakers. Any other business
Conferences (CPLC) Country Public Libraries Conference to be held in Coonabarabran in July 2006. ALISA (Australian Library & Information Science Abstracts) and [L]ISTA [Library] Information Science & Technology Abstracts databases There was some discussion about the availability/coverage of ALISA and [L]ISTA databases. Jennifer Kirton to investigate further and approach/lobby ALIA to urge that the Australian database continue to be updated. The Group believe that ALISA is an important tool to encourage and promote professional development in libraries. See Appendix 1 (attached) Robyn Murray to find information about these databases.
