Agenda

Item 1: Financial report
Clarification sought from Elaine Fitzgerald ALIA on processes for accessing funding for the event 'Essential Connections' scheduled for July 2002.

Action:
Anne to contact Alan Bundy to find out how he wants to go about organising to be reimbursed.

Item 2: Proofed publicity for 'Essential Connections'.

Action:
Anne to send flyer to SLQ publicity department.

Item 3:
Anne the tabled memo seeking approval from PLS director for 'Essential Connections' - this has been fully-approved. Director Carla Mellor has offered her help in ensuring the seminar's success.

Action:
Anne to finalise arrangements with Alan Bundy.

Item 4: Lyris and CYSALIA e-list enrolments.
Anne has contacted the young people's public librarians' list yplib asking people wishing to join are to contact her.

Action:
Each Exec. member to provide a short biographical note for list and send to Anne for inclusion.

Item 5: PLS/CYS Essential Connections Seminar
Margaret and Anne checked the program and decided to indicate that the booktalking session in the afternoon is to be a practical session rather than a demonstration by asking attendees to BYO a book to share. Anne receives a lot of requests for booktalking training and it was decided that the session needs to demonstrate different, simple approaches as opposed to the 'ideal'.

Action:
Teacher and public librarians who booktalk on a regular basis will be asked to participate: Margaret Kittson (primary), Loris will be asked to do high school, Kerry Mallam (Kelvin Grove) will be approached by Loris, Anne to ask Shane Purse. A public librarian needs to be identified.

Possible displays were discussed (too many to get around at last seminar). Suggested that there is a CBC table, with book week ideas and promotional material; ALIA CYS table possibly also to contain upcoming events PD info, and a collections table that showcases new collections and service development materials for teacher and public librarians

Action:
Margaret to contact Judith Russell (CBC president) about CBC table

Item 6. Content and Date of next meeting
Scenarios for the workshop based on Alan's paper 'Essential Connections', need to be worked out. The next meeting will be dedicated to this activity.
