Executive strategic planning meeting

Agenda:
Item 1: Financial report
Clarification sought from ALIA national exec. on reimbursement or upfront payment of accommodation and airfares expenses for keynote speaker, Alan Bundy, for the CYS conference scheduled for July 2002.
Action: Margaret will contact Elaine Fitzgerald to clarify situation.

Item 2: Susanne Bruhn to be approached re provision of ALIA promotion materials for the CYS conf.
Action: Loris to see to this.

Item 3: Minutes of executive meetings to be sent to ALIA executive and to ALIA webmaster
Action: Loris to attend to this.

Item 4: Lyris and CYSALIA e-list enrolments.
'The purpose of these lists is to co-ordinate activities and share information, throughout Queensland, between teacher-librarians and public librarians and to disseminate pertinent professional information from ALIA.'
Action: Anne will establish the list and people wishing to join are to contact her.
Each Exec. member to provide a short biographical note for list and send to Anne for inclusion.

Item 5: CYS Conference

• Proposed date: Friday 5 July.
• Venue PLD at West End, Brisbane.
• Conference title 'Essential ConneXtions: Connecting School and Public Library Professionals'.
• The 'X' will be manipulated to include the 'TL' and 'L' of the roles of the two target groups.
• Proposed schedule of conference:
  • 9:30am-10:00am Mng Tea and Registration
  • 10.00am-11.00am Keynote address by Allan Bundy - 'Essential connections: school and public libraries for lifelong learning'
  • 11:00am-11:30am Short refreshment break
  • 11:30am-1:00pm Small focus groups to workshop issues raised by Allan's paper. Groups to be divided according to geographic regions, (to facilitate liaison later) and lead in discussion to produce a short synopsis of the group's think tank results for presentation on OHT's. Each group will speak briefly to the conf. gathering on their thoughts for future scenarios to create better connection between he two professional streams.
  • 1:00pm-2:00pm Lunch break
  • 2:00pm-3:00pm Booktalking demonstration session to finish.
• Table for CYS and ALIA promotional materials
• Lynn Lining for Booktalk demo?

Action: CYS exec to work on drawing out 6 scenarios for focus group workshop.
