International Children's Book Day (ICBD) is held each year on or around April 2 which is, of course, the birthday of Hans Christian Andersen.
According to the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY), "International Children's Book Day (ICBD) is celebrated to inspire a love of reading and to call attention to children's books." Each year, one of the 70 National Sections of IBBY around the world is the international sponsor of ICBD.
