Six-monthly report to the ALIA Board of Directors

1. Purpose/goals
   Three purposes were enunciated for the Group in early 2001:
   1. To provide CPD activities for members interested in the areas of technical services and collection management
   2. To encourage participation in the activities of the Group by representation from a range of institutions
   3. To provide a forum for discussion and debate on topics of interest to the Group.
   Of these, the main aim was the organisation of CPD activities.
2. Committee
   The committee for Jan-June 2003 was Paul Jensen (Griffith University), Convenor; Ann Huthwaite (QUT), Secretary; Colleen Cleary (QUT), Treasurer; Beverley Reynolds (Griffith University); Anne Loria (Griffith University). Anne Loria resigned from the committee in June. Martin Borchert (Electronic Information Services Librarian, QUT) has expressed interest in joining the committee.
3. Progress towards purpose/goals
   CPD Activities. The third in a series of three seminars on electronic resource management was held at QUT Gardens Point Campus on Thursday 15 May 2003. The title was 'Measure for Measure: Effective Evaluation of Electronic Information Resources' and speakers were Heather Todd (University of Queensland), Anna Raunik (State Library of Queensland), Jacqui Porter (CSIRO) and Martin Borchert (QUT). 80 attendees.
4. Budget
   The 2003 Budget submission, based around the third electronic resources seminar, estimated $1100.00 expenditure and $1200.00 income on a cost-recovery basis with approximately 40 attendees expected.
   
   Result (interim) was: income $2235.00, expenditure $1535.00. Attendance was twice the number budgeted for.
5. Future issues
   Planning future activities for 2004, possibly in connection with the ALIA Biennial Conference to be held at the Gold Coast Convention Centre.
