ALIA Collection and Access Management (Qld)
July-December 2002
Six-monthly report to the ALIA Board of Directors
- Purpose/goals
Three purposes were enunciated for the Group in early 2001:
- To provide CPD activities for members interested in the areas of technical services and collection management
- To encourage participation in the activities of the Group by representation from a range of institutions
- To provide a forum for discussion and debate on topics of interest to the Group.
Of these, the organisation of CPD activities was intended to be the main aim.
- Progress towards purpose/goals
- CPD. Plan for the period 30 July 2001 to 31 December 2002 involved the organising of three half-day seminars on electronic resource management, scheduled for August 2001, March/April 2002, and May/June 2002. The first was duly held. The second was also successfully conducted on April 10 this year. This third was rescheduled for October 2002 but has been postponed, contingent on Group re-endorsement, to 2 April 2003.
- Encourage participation. Implicit in (1).
- Provide forum. The Group has not developed as a forum for discussion and debate.
- Activities
The third of the planned series of three seminars on electronic resource management, addressing the issue of evaluation of use and value of electronic collections, is scheduled for 2 April 2003. Planning is under way. No other activities July-December 2002.
- Budget
Budget for 2002 was estimated as $1060 expenditure and $1600 income for each of two seminars (April and August). The April seminar's results were reported in the January-June progress report. The second seminar has been postponed to April 2003 so funds allocated for this were not drawn on in 2002.
- Future issues
- Staging of third seminar.
- Possible other activities in 2003 not yet developed.
- Continuing as a Group in 2004 and beyond.
