Islamic library on the web launched

The National Library of Malaysia has launched the International Islamic Digital Library (IIDL). The director-general, Datuk Zawiyah Baba, said they had been working on the project since 2001 in collaboration with the Multimedia Development Corporation and other major institutions in Islam in Malaysia.

'We have worked very hard on this project which we hope will provide information on Islam and Muslims around the world as well as promote the sharing and exchange of knowledge among scholars of Islam and those interested in Islam'. She said the website had links to various aspects of Islam such as books, manuscripts, special collections and a gallery showcasing artefacts. For more information on the International Islamic Digital Library, log on to http://www.iidl.net.
