6.1 "form" should be "from"

3. Business Arising

3.1 Biblia Blog

Jill has spoken to Paige, and she has now been set up as an administrator for the Blog. Nothing has been posted for awhile, and Jill has some items to add. Linda and Liz are taking care of the blog for March. This action is now complete.

3.2 2007 Sharr Medal

Michelle will be working on the planning – this can continue until May. There was some discussion about honouring the honours. There are 7 applicants this year, and a meeting will be held to shortlist. Interviews will be conducted on 28th March, and will be done by Margaret Allen, Michelle Brennand and Jill Benn.

Some discussion about seeking sponsorship for the Sharr Medal from 2008.

3.3 ALIAWest Budget Proposal for 2008

Budget has been submitted with no response.

3.4. 2008 Planning – roles and responsibilities, meetings, etc.

The next meeting will be held at 4.30 on April 3, to coincide with Kay Poustie event and visit by Roxanne Missingham, hosted by Vicky Carlyon.

The roles and responsibilities list was updated with the addition of the new graduate representative. It was suggested that a wiki would be useful for such documents – Jill to set one up.

ACTION: Jill

3.5. Icebreaker Event

Vincent Library are very happy to host the Icebreaker event. It should be held after Easter. Charge was discussed and agreed at Student/retiree $5, ALIA members $10, non members $15.

Linda will put the invitation together.

Jill phoned Kay Poustie to congratulate her, and Roxanne Missingham is now coming over to attend the event to honour Kay.

3.6. RFID WA Event (Excellence Award for 2007)

Natarsha has been in touch with Kay Harris, and the event is proposed for July for WA. We need to come up with dates, and then we’ll get a confirmation. Country Library week is 2nd July, and we will try to book the Great Southern at SLWA. We have to arrange the venue, and we suggest that lunch should be included to allow for networking.

ACTION: Natarsha

3.7. Visits to Library Schools

No action

3.8. Kevin Hennah visit

Arranged for Fremantle Reception Room at the Library, on 6th August. Julie Caddy’s details need to be sent to the National Office. Kevin does everything for his visit including advertising. We need to follow up about points for professional development, as then the points could be put in the advertising.

ACTION: Natarsha

4.New Business

Natarsha is an apology for the next meeting. Any ALIA business should be sent to her by 3rd April.

5. Other Business

6. Standing Items

6.1 Treasurer's Report

No updated statement following audit. Two people have not attended a Leading Libraries function – one has paid, one has not. $137.50 has been received from Joondalup. A statement is due at the end of March.
Discussion about the non-payment – the decision is they will not be chased further, but for future events they will be required to pay up front.

6.2. Planning Calendar

Planning has been standardized to fit in with the ALIA planning cycle. March Leading Libraries – should this be March? The update from Michelle has not arrived, Jill will contact her. This will be added to the wiki.

6.3. Report on ALIA Board of Director's Meeting

No report

6.4. Initiative with PLA

There is unlikely to be time in March for this event.

6.5. Mentoring

There has been an email about the webpage.
Feedback – maybe facilitate feedback, by linking to forms.
Mention Convenor of new graduates.

Jill will pass on feedback – arrange to re-organise the other page as well. Need to standardize the format of ALIAWest – all one word with an uppercase W. Formatting – speak to ALIA about possibilities for change. Consider changing name of list for the new graduates.

Kosana Troughton is welcomed to attend the ALIAWest committee meetings.

Two standing items will be created for the mentoring and the new graduates on committee meetings.

Discussion about an Icebreaker for new graduates. Suggested that the new graduates be consulted. There are about 30 on the new graduate list. Discussion around how long a person can be a "new graduate".

It would be good to get the current students to attend the Sharr Medal presentation, promote at School visits.
