Minutes of the inaugural ALIA West meeting held Tuesday 10 June 2003 at 5:30pm in Room 2.9 Alexander Library Building, State Library of WA.

3.1 Until Kay Schneider has arranged to move InfoWest to the ALIA website, ALIA West will be charged on a 3-monthly basis instead of 12-monthly.

5.1 Treasurer's report
Report from WA Forum tabled. Judy Allan to write report of year's activities.
KISWA Report held over - Approximate loss of $100.00 over 2002-2003 financial year. Jeanette Hill to write report of KISWA's activities.
5.2 Continuing Professional Development
5.2.1 The Professional Reading Group will meet on 30 June at Café Pages to discuss the article, 'Do you look like a librarian?'
The next CPD function is planned for 21 July, at which several Speakers will discuss their particular library sectors.
There was discussion regarding dwindling participation in ALIA committees and attendance at functions. It was suggested that part of next meeting should be spent discussing ideas for librarians/ librarianship, marketing strategies, joint functions.
5.3 Biblia report
5.3.1 The committee felt that the new 'members-only' webpage limited Biblia readership numbers. Camille is to canvas newsletter editors of other groups and contact Georgina Dale with her findings.
5.4 Awards
5.4.1 The Sharr Medal Award is to be retained as a year-round agenda item, to encourage the nomination of mid-year graduates.
Procedures for both Special Librarian and Sharr Medal awards to be formalized and documented.
- Other business
6.1 Archiving
Hasn't happened for a number of years. Rose to contact Battye Library for details and Jeanette Hill has agreed to co-ordinate the archiving of KISWA and WA Forum documents.
6.2 Office-bearers for ALIA West

6.3 Library Steering Committee for the State-wide Advertising Campaign
Maureen Cooper outIined proposed methods of donation/funding/subscription for this initiative.
