- Other business
6.1 There was an offer from KISWA to absorb WA Forum and an offer from WA Forum to absorb KISWA. National Office have advised the only way to do this is to dissolve both groups and create a new group. Therefore WA Forum committee seeks approval from the KISWA committee to merge groups.
Belinda spoke to Georgina Dale and was advised of the following:
- Committees do not need the permission from group members to dissolve a group.
- Committees are to notify ALIA in writing of the desire to dissolve each group, giving reasons (committees too small) and explaining the desire to retain both awards (Sharr Medal and Special Librarians of the Year).
- 6 weeks after dissolving a group, ALIA require a report up to the day the group was dissolved.
- Financial paperwork to be sent back to NO.
- The new committee is to start up the new group with a name, officer bearers and a new budget. All of this is to take place before mid May in time for renewals in July.
- Meeting closed at 7.15pm
Next meeting to be held: Tuesday 8 April 2003 at 5:30pm in Room 2.9 of the Alexander Library Building, State Library of Western Australia.
