Meeting minutes

From the WA Forum meeting held Tuesday, 12 November 2002 in Room 2.9 Alexander Library Building, State Library of WA, at 5.35pm.

   Accepted with correction as discussed. J Allan has not yet spoken to students at ECU about the Sharr Medal and ALIA. Accepted by B Bruce, Seconded by J Allan

   Jennifer Nicholson, executive director ALIA, thanked WA Forum for organising the Regional National Policy Congress in Perth in October 2002.

5. Reports

   5.1: Convenor's report
   Activity focussed on seeking nominations for the 2003 WA Forum committee and preparing the budget for WA Forum activities for 2003.
   
   

   5.2: Treasurer's report
   Balance = - $494.44
   Funding of WA local presence officer was discussed.
   Petty cash system discussed.
   
   

   5.3 Continuing professional development co-ordinator's report
   Five participants attended the last Professional Reading Group. The venue, Pages Café at the State Library, was an improvement on past venues and will be used in future.
   
   

   5.4: Biblia report

   5.4.1: Biblia editors to seek National Policy Congress report from WA representative Carol Newton Smith.
   
   

   5.4.2: Biblia editors to follow up on the offer of a cartoon from Kim Grace

   5.5: Budget
   Committee prepared the budget for WA Forum activities for 2003. J.Allan to submit to ALIA via the website.
   
   

   5.6: AGM
   One nomination for a committee member has been received from Raima Briede for a committee position. It was decided that due low numbers the WA Forum dinner planned for November 19 be cancelled. The AGM will still take place at 6:00pm Tuesday 19 November 2002. Any AGM attendees are welcome to stay for dinner at the Brass Monkey at the conclusion of the meeting however the set menu and cost will not apply.
