Minutes of the meeting of the WA Forum held on Monday, 12 March 2002.

3.2 Icebreaker function
Bobbie has contacted Alan Bundy, and he is happy to come over. The Ice Breaker Function will be on Wednesday 6 March 5:30pm-7:30pm. Followed by dinner.
Alan will liaise directly with Andrea Jones of the Geraldton Public Library to organise a function in Geraldton.
A.I. Bobbie to contact the Cottesloe Hotel and LISWA re availability of function rooms.: Done
A.I. Bonnie will make sure function is advertised on WAIN and other outlets.: Done
5.1.2 Budget
a. Bonnie to e-mail E Bardoe, A Raspa, and Sam Hughes re figures for budget: done. Sam attended this meeting and will work on actual figures for LIW and pass them through to Bobbie.
5.4.1 Biblia
a. Alethea to contact I Trundle re guidelines for putting Biblia on the ALIA website.: Done. All is ready to go. Alethea is having problems getting an answer from Ivan. March issue of Biblia is now on the ALIA website. Month and year a problem the month and year is not listed at all on the pdf version of the February and March 2002 issues of Biblia, and only listed on some pages of the html version (although you can figure out the date from the URL for the html version). Alethea will contact ALIA to sort out.
- Correspondence.
In: E-mails from Claire Forte and Kay Poustie commenting on success of Ice Breaker Function.
Out: Quite a lot of correspondence to arrange the Sharr Medal but these have been filed in the Sharr Medal File.
Itinerary for Alan Bundy: sent by local presence officer.

5.1 Convenors report
Many thanks to committee for success of Icebreaker function.
Kerry Smith has been recognised by ALIA and we will celebrate this achievement with a dinner at the end of LIW.
Action item: Bobbie to liase with Linda to arrange a dinner at the Curtin Club. 24 May

5.3 CPD report
Camille Peters has agreed to take on the role of CPD co-ordinator. She will arrange a meeting with continuing CPD committee members and see if she can rustle up a few more.
Action item: Bonnie to add Camille to South West Working Group list and send spreadsheet of potential topics/speakers.
5.4 Biblia
Link on website difficult to find. Biblia committee details not current.
Action item: Bonnie to check link to Biblia from WA Forum page, and make sure link is to CURRENT Biblia. Also make sure current committee details are correct.
5.5 Local Studies
Local Studies Group are holding a function in March. On 21 March 2002 the ALIA Local Studies WA Group has arranged to visit the Aboriginal Affairs library. The format will be as follows:
Meet at the lobby of the Governor Stirling Tower at 5:00pm. Since it is also the office of the Premier it is a secure building after 5:00pm. The library is on the 1st Floor. (If you arrive late, Security will take you to the 1st Floor)
Julie Hayden, family history officer will talk about the Family Tracing Service and will be commencing her talk just after 5:00pm. After Julie has given her talk, Sue Beverley, the librarian, will talk about the collection and show us around the library. We should be finished around 6:00pm.
5.6 South West Forum Working Group
This is the group formed to co-ordinate a Forum to be held in Bunbury in September this year.
Things are going well for the group, a tentative list of topics and speakers has been produced, and a venue has been chosen and booked. The group will be travelling to Bunbury on 24 March to meet with the South West Library Link group to exchange ideas, pick up more suggestions for topics/speakers and investigate sponsorship options from the local businesses.
- Other business
6.1 LIW Committee.
A committee has been formed and is currently engaged in organising events for LIW. Mostly have been focussed on launch of LIW.
Other events are the re-running of the Internet Treasure Hunt: are aiming for sponsors outside the usual library suppliers.
Calendar of events for LIW is being produced and committee are pushing for groups to contribute their activities.
Committee will make use of ALIA's publicity officers to help with producing press releases etc.
