Alan Bundy is happy to come over in March.

7.2 Bobbie Bruce to send an e-mail to membership asking for any issues for NPC to be forwarded to Eilishia. - done
3.2 Icebreaker function.
Will be first function of the year. Award the Sharr medal at this function. Other ALIA groups could come and promote themselves. Proposed date, Wednesday 6 March 2002
As we will have Alan Bundy attending, can also combine it with a function in Geraldton, (proposed date 8 March 2002) presentation of a certificate of recognition to Pat Gallagher for her outstanding service to ALIA - Alan can present certificate.
Can also have a professional reading seminar (Regional Reading Group) on this weekend.

5.1.2 Budget. - Budget still under consideration. We need a planning day to finalise budget and group submission. We particularly need to consider Bibila Costs, CPD activities and LIW activities.
Action items - Set date for planning meeting - 19 January, 2:00pm at Eilishia Bardoe's house.
Bonnie to send an e-mail to E Bardoe, Alethea Raspa and Sam Hughes, asking them to collect figures for relevant activities.

5.3 CPD report:
5.3.1 Leadership seminar
Great success. Eilishia forwarded a sample of the many congratulatory e-mails to secretary. A formal vote of thanks was proposed at this stage by Bobbie Bruce and seconded by Bonnie Rae Bruce to thank Eilishia and the CPD Committtee for all their hard work this year.
5.3.2 WA Australian Government Locator Service (AGLS) State Committee has asked Eilishia to be ALIA representative on Metadata Committee. Copies of all correspondence will be sent through to ALIA National Office.
5.3.3 National Policy Congress
On the whole successful, Eilishia made contact with the new CPD Officer for ALIA. A lot of time was taken up with discussion on new conference model. A draft report will be circulated to the delegates for checking before formal report posted to web. Eilishia's personal report on the NPC is attached to these minutes as an addendum.
5.4 Biblia:
5.4.1 Website for Biblia still an issue, still waiting to get on to ALIAnet. First issue for 2002 will be February - deadline for copy 20 January 2002. Look will probably change to conform to ALIA website conventions.
Action item: Alethea to contact Ivan Trundle for guidelines.
5.4.2 Bottom line no longer an appropriate column. Better to have 'guest ' writers from some of the Local ALIA groups. Suggested title, "Goss from the Groups"

- General business
6.1 South West weekend seminar
WA Library Technicians have invited WA Forum to be involved in planning a weekend seminar in Bunbury in September 2002.
- Purpose of weekend seminar:
- Enhance the connections that exist between the regional and metropolitan library community.
- Showcase the diverse interests and skills of WA Library Sector
- Provide networking and professional development opportunities to those who cannot afford to attend conferences.
WA Library Technicians are asking for sponsorship in the form of administrative support for registrations, and ideas for presentations/workshop sessions. - this was agreed to at the meeting.
Some suggestions for are budgeting workshop, identification of main issues facing librarians/libraries - particularly public libraries - tied into this would be presentation of lobbying skills.
