ALIA WA Forum Meeting, 13 August 2001

Rm 2.9, 2nd Floor, Alexander Library Building at 5:30pm.

1. Apologies: Roberta Cowan, Clare Snowball, Jane Klobas, Belinda Grayson.
   
   
2. Minutes of previous meeting.
   Accepted - with correction to apologies, Roberta Cowan sent apologies for meeting of 9 July also.
   
   
3. Matters arising from previous minutes.
   Action Items -
   2.2 Bobbie Bruce to contact Margaret at Graduate School of Business re leadership seminar and provide Eilishia with contact details for Ann from City of Nedlands. - in hand.
   3.3 Bonnie Rae Bruce to write letter to Clare Forte requesting room 2.9 for WA Forum meetings. - in hand.

   E-mail from Jane Klobas detailing possibility of hosting Biblia at Curtin.
   E-mail from Sandra Reid, executive assistant at ALIA
   E-mail from Susanna Bruhn regarding local presence officer for WA Forum
   E-mail from Jennefer Nicholson re wrapping up Branch Council.

   Out:
   Invoice to Kondinnin Group for WA Forums share of the profits from the
   Regional Workshop held in Geraldton.

5. Reports:
   5.1 Convenors report:
   5.1.1: National Policy Congress will be held 7-8 December in Canberra. Eilishia Bardoe is our nominated rep for WA Forum.

   5.1.2 Local presence officer - ALIA will send through a contract for Linda Simonis as our local presence officer. Local presence officer is primary contact for ALIA WA - so it is a good practice for WA Groups to send in contact details for their group, and a brief description of their group.
   Action item: Executive to arrange lunch with Linda Simonis

   5.2 Treasurers report: no report.

   5.3 CPD report:
   5.3.1 Fundraising for the future - presented by CAVAL - at the moment numbers are small. Eilishia will explore possibility of CAVAL packaging a workshop that could be presented by a local person.

   5.3.2 Professional Reading Group: Next topic is Copyright and Contract, 29 August.

   5.3.3 17 October - Where do we go from here?: Venue: Hollywood Private Hospital, Cost: $8.80 ALIA members, $11.00 non-members. Time: 5:30pm for a 6:00pm start.

   5.3.4 21st November - Leadership seminar: Theme: Managers do things right and Leaders do right things. Venue: Cottesloe Beach Hotel, Sunset Room
   Action item: Bobbie Bruce to send executive spreadsheet of costings for WA Forum.

   5.4 Biblia
   5.4.1 Editorial team is continuing to investigate technical ramifications of moving Biblia from our current ISP. Bobbie will be talking to ALIA re getting newsletter on ALIA website.

   5.4.2 Clare has written a questionnaire for Biblia subscribers regarding print mailouts of Biblia. This will go out with Septembers Biblia.

6. General business
   6.1 Local presence officer - roles and duties. Some discussion took place - executive will discuss with Linda.

   6.2 Recruitment of more Forum members - held over till next meeting.

   6.3 Sharr Medal committee - held over till next meeting.

   6.4 WA Forum (WALIA site) updates - a co-ordinator for updating the site needs to be nominated.
