May and Herbert Gibbs Art Collection exhibition
24 October to 13 January 2006
The City of South Perth is pleased to advise that its comprehensive collection of artworks by May and Herbert Gibbs will be on display at Heritage House Cultural Centre between Monday 24 October and Friday 13 January 2006.
This is a delightful exhibition of watercolours, oils and pencil drawings including portraits, landscapes, seascapes, wildflowers, caricatures and cartoons.
The May and Herbert Gibbs Collection has been described as of considerable significance not only for its artistic value, but because Herbert Gibbs and his daughter May, are recognised as 'important players in the history of the visual arts in the state' as well as 'part of a defined artistic community in South Perth in the early days' of the twentieth century.
This collection, owned and managed by the City of South Perth, has not been exhibited in its entirety since 1999.
We look forward to welcoming you to Heritage House Cultural Centre to view the exhibition which will be open between 10:00am and 4:00pm, Monday to Friday, 24 October to 13 January 2006. Please note these opening hours may be subject to change over the Christmas/New Year period.
