Presented by Judith Jacobs, Oral History Association of Australia (WA Branch) Free for those who wish to become volunteers in the Joondalup oral history programme. The Joondalup library local studies facility is running an oral history workshop for anyone who is interested in a stimulating learning experience. The course is designed to suit the needs of researchers of family, community and social history and teachers and students at all levels of education. The city of Joondalup is actively collecting the oral history of the community and volunteers are involved in many facets of this project. Attendance of the workshop is free for those community members who wish to become involved in the Joondalup oral history programme, while for all others there is a nominal charge of $55.00 (incl. 'Our community, our future'2005 WA Local Government Librarian's Association Biennial Conference, Friday 4 March, Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. WALGLA has developed an exciting full day professional development program, exploring how public libraries connect with their community. Topics for the conference include, 24/7 self service public library in Singapore ; public libraries in Mauritius; Aboriginal storytelling in Kununurra; and the library as a 'safe place' in the community.
