August 2004Information Enterprises AustraliaA West Australian business success storyMore than 50 people gathered on Friday 30 July at the Novotel Langley in Perth to help celebrate one of Western Australia's quiet achievers celebrate its 18th year in business. Information Enterprises Australia P/L (IEA), a niche specialist employment agency, consultancy and trainers in the library and records management sectors, has grown to become one of the most respected small players in the industry. Guests at the event included the auditor general - Mr Des Pearson; the director of the State Records Office - Mr Tony Caravella; business facilitator - Mr Graham Harvey and past and present clients and registrants of IEA's many services. Shirley Cowcher, owner and director of IEA took the opportunity to outline some of the many changes to the library and records management arena that have shaped the industry within which the company operates. This included the introduction of the WA State Records Act 2000, and the need for transparency in record keeping within government, as well as the use of common use contracts by government departments and how they disadvantage small businesses. Ms Cowcher also took the opportunity to thank the many people who had helped the company achieve its first eighteen years in business.
