Not just a place for books

Curtin Library and Information Service's T L Robertson Library is one of the most visited buildings on the university's Bentley campus with an average of 10 000 visitors each day. As such it provides a perfect environment to showcase works from the Curtin University of Technology's art collection and demonstrate the culturally significant place the library holds within the university community.

In a recent collaboration between the library and the John Curtin Gallery, three large pieces of art from the Curtin collection have been hung in the library. These artworks are sure to create interest and excitement from visitors as well as enhance the visual appeal of the library and provide valuable exposure for the university's art collection.

The three works selected for loan are abstract paintings by Gunter Christmann and Ted Snell dating from the 1970s. Two works are acrylic on canvas and the third is oil on canvas. The paintings have been selected for their colourful, dynamic qualities which will be a valuable addition to the library and prove it is not just a place for books.
