ALIA West
August 2004ALIA Board of DirectorsThank you to all of you who voted me in as a Board Director. It is lovely to have Deanne Barrett to ask for advice as I learn my way - thank you Deanne. I have found my first Board meetings very interesting and stimulating. It is pleasing to see some of the new ALIA initiatives taking shape. One of these is the Research Exchange and Partnership (REAP). One aspect of REAP is the ALIA e-prints which is an electronic archive for research relating to library and information service. Please consider putting up your research project. If we know what each other are doing it can save us re-inventing the wheel. Your project does not have to be academic, practical projects are welcome. Projects can also be works in progress. One page summarizing what you have achieved is quite sufficient. People can contact you for more detail. More information is available at: http://www.alia.org.au/research/
A major change that was decided at the last Board meeting was in relation to the National Policy Congress. The regional National Policy Congress meeting will welcome individual members as well as a representative from each WA ALIA group. Each ALIA member will not only be able to attend and be heard but will also get a vote for who represents WA at the National Policy Congress. The background papers will be available shortly at: |
