Curtin Information Studies Alumni quiz night

This year the quiz night is on during both Library and Information Week and Records Management Week

Curtin Information Studies Alumni Quiz Night

Parking: Driving down Albany Highway from the city, Leonard Street is on the right immediately after McMaster and King George Streets. From the south, it is on the left immediately after Temple and McMillan Streets. The church is an unmissable white building on the north of Leonard Streeet near Albany Highway. The hall is next to the church.

You can park freely in all the streets around the church in the evenings. There is a small car park at the church and a private car park on the other side of Leonard Street which is hardly used in the evenings and should be OK for parking, despite the notices.

  John Long is the Curator of Vertebrate Palaeontology at the WA Museum, and has been recognised for communicating science to children through his books. Phone 08 9446 8944 to book.
Liz Byrski Thursday 27 May Mirrabooka Library 10:00-11:00am
  Liz Byrski is a writer and broadcaster, and the author of many books. She has just published her first fiction novel, Gang of Four. Phone 08 9344 5474 to book.

Bunbury Public Libraries LIW events

An invitation to meet with visiting author Estelle Blackburn

Bunbury Public Libraries will be hosting a free meet-the-author session with prominent West Australian author Estelle Blackburn.

Estelle Blackburn is the award winning author of Broken Lives - six years of painstaking research which brought about the exoneration of John Button for the killing of his girlfriend in the 1960s. Estelle received journalism's highest honour, the Walkley Award for Most Outstanding Contribution to Journalism and an Order of Australia Medal.

Bookstart information session

Find out how to read to your child, the benefits of reading and suitable books through the Bookstart Program. Bunbury Public Libraries provide free information sessions on language development for parents with children under one year. Sessions are attended by a speech pathologist, child health nurse and library staff. Parents receive a free calico bag with a suitable book and information pamphlets.

Bookstart aims to

  • Provide free resources that encourage parents to share books with their children
  • Support and encourage them to make book sharing a habit
  • Empower parents to help build foundations for literacy
  • Enable children and parents to share the pleasure and satisfaction of books.

Bookworm club meeting

The club is for 7-12 years olds and membership is free. Club members will be celebrating the 21st birthday of Mem Fox's Possum magic by reading the story and doing a craft activity afterwards of a possum mask! So come along and join in the fun!
