AskOnline: Curtin's Virtual Reference Trial

Curtin Library and Information Service is now piloting an online chat service! The AskOnline Reference Service offers online help with library related questions. Using chat software, a librarian can answer questions directly, and with screen-sharing software clients will be able to watch as the librarian shows them how to search a library database or web search engine for the information they need.

For clients who are not able to get to the library, AskOnline is a great way to learn how to use some of our more complex library resources as well as making things like the catalogue easier to use. Instead of trying to understand what to do over the phone, or battling with a printed guide, AskOnline SHOWS clients what steps to take. And then the next time they want to use that resource, they'll find it much easier.

The AskOnline pilot is currently available between the hours of 11:00am and 3:00pm, Monday to Friday. To check it out, visit the library website: http://library.curtin.edu.au/askonline/index.html
