August 2003[aliaOBBL] Appointment of ALIA local liaison officer for WADear All It gives me great pleasure to announce that Kay Poustie has been appointed as the local liaison for Western Australia. This is a new part-time position that has recently been created. ALIA local liaison officers are responsible for promoting ALIA and supporting members at a grassroots level. For those of you who do not know Kay the following is a brief biography: Kay Poustie is a director of Poustie Consulting Pty Ltd and the chairman of the Library Board of Western Australia. She has been working in the library and information sector for forty years, with the majority of that time spent in public libraries in Victoria and Western Australia. She held various positions in the Australian Library and Information Association, including four years as the chair of the Board of Education and member of the Executive of the General Council of the Association. She was made a Fellow of the Association for her contribution to public libraries and the profession in 1997. Prior to joining Poustie Consulting, Kay held the position of manager, Libraries, Arts and Culture at the City of Stirling, leaving the City having been responsible for four new library buildings, a strong commitment to strategic planning and several of the busiest public libraries in Western Australia. Kay was an inaugural member of the Bertelsmann International Network of Public Libraries, an international group of 14 public library managers responsible for undertaking research on issues pertinent to public libraries. She is now an Associate member of the Network. As a Past District 23 Governor of Zonta International, a world-wide service organisation of executives in business and the professions, Kay is also involved in community service at a local and international level.
