ALIA West
June 2003
KISWA and WA Forum merge into ALIA West
Due to a shortage of volunteers, KISWA and WA Forum have merged into a new group, ALIA West, which begins life on 1 June 2003.
The aims and objectives of ALIA West are available on our webpage at: http://www.alia.org.au/groups/aliawest/index.html
and are stated below:
- ALIA West co-ordinates and communicates strategic professional issues and organises continuing professional development activities statewide.
- It promotes the profession and its objectives both to the members and the public through the award of certificates, the Sharr Medal, the Special Librarian of the Year Award, and by nomination for various ALIA forms of recognition.
- ALIA West co-ordinates a social and networking program across groups in Western Australia, encouraging the flow of ideas and to ensure grass-roots recruiting of new members. Activities also include promoting Library Week and publishing Biblia (print and e-publication) as a communication tool for the profession in Western Australia.
The KISWA and WA Forum committees wish to encourage their members to join ALIA West when they renew their membership of ALIA and to consider joining the ALIA West committee. Details of ALIA West meetings are listed in Diary Dates and you are most welcome to attend.
