Leading crime author visits Geraldton to celebrate Australian Library Week
Australia's leading crime fiction writer Gabrielle Lord will share her experiences of both the crime investigation and literary worlds with aspiring writers, when she visits Geraldton and Albany next month as part of Australian Library Week celebrations.
Her visit is one of two major events planned by Geraldton Regional Library to mark Library Week, which starts on May 12.
The other is a mammoth State Library discard book sale at Greenough Hamlet on Saturday, May 10 and Sunday, May 11. Entry is free and over twenty thousand books will be trucked up from Perth.
City librarian Andrea Jones says she is thrilled to be celebrating Library Week with such popular events and that the visit by Gabrielle Lord in particular is a real coup for the region.
The author will lead a one-day writers workshop at Geraldton library on Sunday, May 11 where she will share with aspiring local authors topics like voice, characterisation, plot development and getting 'unstuck'. In addition, she will host a literary dinner at the historical Hampton Arms on May 10.
The author of such compelling crime novels as Fortress, Whipping Boy and most recently Baby Did Bad, Bad Thing, Lord is highly regarded for her thorough research of police procedures and aspects of forensic investigation, which have helped elevate her to the status of the Australia's leading crime fiction writer.
