State-wide marketing campaign for libraries in WA

On 31 January, librarians representing all branches and groups within the library profession were invited to discuss a 'State-wide marketing campaign for libraries in WA'. Attendees were shown the South Australian Libraries marketing campaign, '@Your Library' and asked for comments. The '@Your Library' is a very positive campaign that is designed to address issues of currency of relevance of libraries to the public and also to specialised groups. The campaign also focuses on presenting the profession to students as a viable and interesting career choice. It was felt that a similar campaign in WA would be very worthwhile.
A Steering Committee was formed with the following membership:
Carolyn Betts - Western Australian Local Government Association
Maureen Cooper - KISWA (Knowledge Information Specialists WA)
Susan Feeney - Public Library Services, State Library of WA
Claire Forte - State Library of WA
Michelle Ledger - Public Libraries
Dee Malkmus - WA Government Libraries Network
Terena Solomons - Library manager, Hollywood Private Hospital
Andrea Vinciullo - Library and Information Services Central TAFE
Lee Williams - State Reference Library

A presentation by Fiona Lange from Lange Hill Marketing in SA, who spear-headed the SA campaign, will be held on Monday 10 March, 10:30 to 12:30pm, at the State Library Theatre.

All librarians, regardless of whether you are a one-person library or part of a bigger organisation are urged to attend. This campaign is for US. Come and hear and give your ideas on how to promote our profession and our services to all our clients.
