March 2003

Librarians parleyed and partied

KISWA function report
A big thank-you to Judy and her Staff at the Parliamentary Library for providing a great start to 2003. Niamh gave an overview of the services provided by the Parliamentary Library to Members and detailed some of their digital services. Members can access the Library from their offices in the Parliament House, their Electoral Offices and on trips overseas.

Judy's tour of the House gave some fascinating insights to the workings of Parliament. From our first woman Member, Edith Cowan, to the wonderful leadlights in the Chambers and the operation of Hansard. (It is not verbatim. The grammar is corrected and references are checked for accuracy.) So much to see and take in. Our 'modest' House is quite impressive.

But, the best is always the company and the 'nibbles' provided by 'The Strangers Bar' were excellent. As we sat in the Courtyard and chatted with friends, it was wonderful start to the year.
