ALIA Tasmania: Program for 2007

Month: February/March
Activity: ALIA Online 2007 Conference report back
Purpose: ALIA members who have attended the ALIA Online 2007 Conference will present reports on the conference to the group.

Month: March
Activity: Welcome function for new librarianship students
Purpose: This is a recruitment activity to introduce new students to the ALIA network and its proposed program.

Month: April
Activity: Launch of the 2007 mentoring program and training for participants
Purpose: Mentoring program is established to allow new graduates and others making career transitions to receive guidance from and to build networks with professionals already working in the field.

Month: May
Activity: Library and Information Week Quiz
Purpose: A very popular social event to promote and celebrate Library and Information Week.

Month: July
Activity: Library visit - TAFE Library and welcome function for new library technician students
Purpose: Annual program includes visits to at least two different libraries through the year. This welcome function is a new feature to our program and provides an opportunity to introduce new Library technicians to the ALIA network and its programs.

Activity: Library visit
Purpose: Annual program includes visits to at least two different libraries through the year.

Month: November
Activity: Social event (reception, drinks, dinner - suggestions welcome!) to tie in with the Bibliographical Society of Australia and New Zealand (BSANZ) 'Spaces of Print: Exploring the History of Books' Conference to be held on 8-9 November. A call for conference papers will be posted on Taslib-link shortly. Members of professional associations such as ALIA, ASA, ASLA, etc. will be entitled to a reduced registration fee.
Purpose: Social activity and professional development opportunity.
