February Conference: Critical literacies for the digital learner

In this seminar Sylvia Guidara re-visited in more detail the use of digital learning technologies to enhance student learning. Participants explored digital learning & how we can skill our students to be critically literate in the library, the classroom & a variety of online environments, in particular, the State Library ergo website.

August Online Conference: Web 2.0, Web 3.0,.......

This online discussion was conducted as a blog open to ALIA Schools e-list members only. The treats and trials of Web 2.0 projects for school libraries were discussed.

October Conference: Print and beyond: digital collection development for the 21st century
Collections will be a "mash-up" and fear not the exhilarating technology possibilities were the messages fascinatingly explored by keynote speaker, Paul Reekie, former editor -in- chief of CSIRO journal and book group, now running CSIRO Publishing as a business enterprise. Paul Reekie presentation

The challenges of developing a balanced collection in the digital age were practically workshopped by Dr Jan Murray, director of Murray Consulting & Training and Dr Mary Carroll, lecturer at Victoria University and RMIT.

Wilma Kurvink, Head of Wesley College Libraries, shared her journey of recent research into the viability of the e-book for schools and school libraries. Many thanks to these experts for sharing their experience and work with the ALIA Schools community.
